It's Not About Pretty

  Anytime I get to style beautiful pro surfer and shark attack surivor, Bethany Hamilton, it’s an awesome day! This time was for her red carpet appearance for her new movie UNSTOPPABLE that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.  She just gave birth to her second son, Wesley, five weeks before, and she looked glowing and great. Bethany and her outfit got a lot of love from the media site JUST JARED, so I thought I’d share what they posted about her. UNSTOPPABLE a great movie, (3 years in the making)  so mark your calendars when it’s released in a theater near you – you won’t want to miss it. The film is directed by well know surf cinematographer, Aaron Lieber. I also enjoy incorporating the client’s colors into the wardrobe selects, for the ultimate tie-ins photographically.

  Always a fun day when you get to work with amazing female Olympians, especially when the shoot is at the LA Coliseum. I’ve worked with Olympian Allyson Felix over the years, but I hadn’t had the pleasure of working with Olympian Janet Evans, so that was a real treat.  These ladies were so professional, easy and fun and I loved seeing them grace the cover of CSQ Magazine. There is nothing better during the summer than having the #FreedomToFind, so that’s exactly what we decided to do when we shot this lookbook. We piled Amanda, Zara, and Kala into a friends jeep and took a little road trip to some iconic LA spots, starting with a rad backyard ramp (complete with a tree house!), after a few hours we got hungry, so we decided to grab some (ok, a box) donuts at this iconic LA spot, and then hit the beach for a late day skate sesh before the sun went down. Photos by Christin Rose  Lifetime #Fempire Moments     When LIFETIME TV   asked me to style a series of #Fempire moments with my brand Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word to highlight female empowerment, I was beyond stoked. To see Venice Skatepark filled with only girls skating from dawn to dusk is not something you ever see – thanks to Lifetime TV this happened. The first #fempire spot rolled out this weekend on Lifetime TV – maybe you caught it? If not, we have it here. This spot features Japanese ripper Sky Brown – at just 8 years old she is taking the skating world by storm and has some other big dreams as well! Also featured in the shots above are Hunter Long, Minna Stess, Jordyn Barratt, Quinne Daniels, Vianez Morales & Emma Houle. Such a rad day filming with these girls and the Lifetime TV Crew. Photos Ian Logan I finally had some time off from styling shoots and took a week long break over the holiday to skateboard through the south.  Got to experience some great locations, have a lot of fun, and remembered that it’s damn cold skating through intersections at 7 AM when you have wind chill going on.  (You tend to forget that living in California most of the year). Now it’s back to work and working on estimates, pulling wardrobe for upcoming shoots and making each shoot a success. The photo I created for my social media channels to announce the NYX Snapchat takeover NYX Cosmetics announcement on their Twitter page for the Snapchat takeover A little teaser of what was to come… I did a Snapchat takeover awhile back for large beauty based group called BeautyCon,  it went so well & I had such a great time doing it, I knew I wanted to do more. So I reached out to NYX Cosmetics (a young and hip brand of cosmetics under the Loreal  umbrella)  to see if they’d be interested in having me take over their social media at the Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, which is THE biggest surf/skate summer party of the year. The women’s skateboarding event within the US Open is called the Vans Park Series, and it is a very important qualifier for the Pro and AM skaters that want to make the championships in Sweden. Could not have asked for a better team of people and an amazing client who literally let me run with it as far as models, locations, set ups, props, crew, video team, and vision. I’m proud to announce that on May 13, 2016 I was inducted into the  Skateboarding Hall of Fame. The awards ceremony  was held  at the City National Grove in Anaheim, California, and I was extremely honored to have legendary rocker Joan Jett  agree to do my introduction, which encompassed her views and mine, on female empowerment.     OG Pro skateboarder David Hackett and Nor Cal skater and well known photographer Bryce Kanights, also gave intro’s on my past & present skate history. Photography Ian Logan   It always starts with one piece of furniture that you scored on sale… Next thing you know you are totally revamping your entire living room to make the new piece fit perfectly, and look good with everything else. I blame this one on H.D. Buttercup’s Warehouse sale. I had almost gotten out of there free & clear, when my husband spotted a comfy living room chair we just “had to have”, luckily it had a “sold” sticker on it so we dogged that bullet. But right after, I spotted a small couch/love seat for an unbelievable low price, and I knew it had to come home with us. I fully believed it would fit in the spot of an antique chair we were planning on getting rid of, but I was a bit off on that – to say the least.
