Skateboarding Through The South

Image
Photos Ian Logan I finally had some time off from styling shoots and took a week long break over the holiday to skateboard through the south.  Got to experience some great locations, have a lot of fun, and remembered that it’s damn cold skating through intersections at 7 AM when you have wind chill going on.  (You tend to forget that living in California most of the year). Now it’s back to work and working on estimates, pulling wardrobe for upcoming shoots and making each shoot a success. Now it’s back to work, cranking out estimates, pulling wardrobe for upcoming shoots and making each shoot day with my clients a success. Happy New Year and here’s to a great 2017! Save

The Bates Motel

Image
Photos: Ian Logan I have been mesmerized by this art instillation that Vincent Lamouroux did here in Los Angeles. He took the old Sunset Motel (also known as The Bates Motel), used an Eco-friendly whitewash to coat the entire structure, billboards, signs, and palm trees around it, taking a seedy, run down hotel and making it into something beautiful. The Eco-friendly paint will fade away naturally and eventually the motel will be razed to make way for new development, but until then we get to enjoy it’s beauty and simplicity. It just seemed like a perfect spot for some skate shots – especially since it was a great excuse to skate down Sunset Blvd at 6 AM without much traffic. Yeah, that kind of made my day.

Tone It Up Book Shoot

Image
Photography: John Segesta & Nicole Hill /  Make-up: Jennifer Anton  / Stylist: Cindy Whitehead This was one of the more diverse and fun projects I got to work on at the end of 2014. The amazing & energetic, Tone It Up girls, Karena & Katrina, asked me to come in and do the styling for their upcoming book “TONE IT UP 28 Days to Fit, Fierce, and Fabulous”. The looks I needed to pull together with my team ranged from work out wear, swimwear, & casual lifestyle outfits, to date night looks. We used some pieces of their existing wardrobe here and there, and added in elements that were fresh and new, avoiding brands with logos that were distracting. Keeping the color flow consistent throughout all the shots with out repeating color combos too often, was also something to take into consideration while doing the wardrobe pull. We ended up going for lots of bright summer colors for workout and swimwear, which convey “energy”, and sticking to a more soft an...

Memorial Day Skate Session

Image
Photo: Ian Logan I hope you had a wonderful three day weekend!  It’s really rare &  nice to have the streets here in Los Angeles be with out traffic, even in the early morning hours, so I took advantage of it and  had a little skate session at 7 AM through Beverly Hills. The streets were  so smooth and I had them all to myself. Love that.  Of course I had to wear some  red, white & blue today to honor those who have served our country. #ThankYou

Lifestyle Looks for Kaiser Permanente

Image
Client: Kaiser Permanente / Photos: Siri Berting / Stylist: Cindy Whitehead It was an awesome way to end 2014, a jam packed lifestyle shoot with photographer Siri Berting for the 2015 re-branding of Medicare, for Kaiser Permanente.  The shoot showed baby boomers enjoying all aspects of their lives so I got to pull a wide range of looks – everything from art gallery scenario’s  to basketball, and everything in between. About 8 racks of clothes in total.  Really a lot of fun and a challenge to pull so many head to toe spring looks together during Christmas rush at the shopping malls. But not nearly as much of a challenge as it was for Siri and her team to make it look like Spring/Summer during one of the rainiest days of the year, but the final images turned out great thanks to an amazing team of people!

Sweetie Pies & The Whistle Stop Cafe

Image
We headed out to Decatur, Texas a few weeks ago to work on a commercial for Wrangler . I really love this small Texas town. The people are friendly, my assistants Amanda, Ashley, and I, enjoyed some amazing meals at places like The Whistle Stop Cafe & Sweetie Pies, we checked out the petrified wood gas station, and spent our days on a ranch shooting bull riders & cowboys. What could be better? Looking forward to sharing the final commercial with everyone when it comes out!

On The Road Again...

iphone shots by me / Shot of pro golfer Aaron Baddeley by Adams golf via instagram Styled an awesome shoot in Arizona for Adams golf recently & the location was amazing, as were the golfers. Now I’m  back on the road for a shoot in Decatur, Texas. From golfers to cowboys – this is what I love about my styling career!

Walking Through The South - A Personal Project.

Image
Photographer Ian Logan Over the holidays I used my time off to continue to work on a personal project I have been doing for the past year with photographer Ian Logan .  A series of images we are calling “Walking Through the South”. This time we concentrated on Alabama and found some really great locations during this adventure. All images were shot with an iphone 5s as it was easy to carry, & we could upload to instagram from just about anywhere we were throughout the day and we didn’t have to stop to do it. I posted multiple images daily via my instagram account ( @sportsstylist ) so people could get a sense of where I was, and what I was seeing /experiencing. Using the hashtag #walkingthroughthesouth we noticed that during this time we gained quite a few social media followers daily – perhaps due to the fact that we were posting images throughout the day that were appealing to a diverse cross section of people – creatives, travel, adventure, and f...
