Happy 4th of July!

Image
Photo: Ian Logan Happy 4th of July!  I plan on doing not much more than skateboarding, hanging out at the beach, BBQ’s with friends,  and having a great 3 days off!  What are your plans for the long holiday weekend? Meow.

I’m not sure “Meow” is really the right noise to make when talking about leopard print sneakers but whatever. It’s Saturday and I’m trolling around in these new babies. Pony hair, slip on, leopard print, sneakers. Seriously. MEOW.

Puma x Solange

Singer Solange Knowles is now an art director and creative consultant for the new  PUMA Disc sneaker which launches February 2014. Excited to see the shoes when they launch!

XLV Stories of the Puma Suede

Image
Honored to be included in the limited edition book “XLV Stories of the Puma Suede” (2,000 total) produced by Puma and Acclaim Magazine. Forty five people from music, art, dance and sport have their personal stories and history wearing the suede detailed in the book, which  commemorates the Suede’s 45th anniversary. Another skater represented is Bucky Lasek – excited to read his story. As some of you may know Puma was my shoe sponsor for skateboarding back in the day and I still wear their shoes now & love them! Happy Anniversary Puma Suede!

The Smithsonian x Skateboarding

Image
photo: ian logan   So honored to be asked to donate these items from my 70’s pro skateboard days to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History’s sports collection . WOW.  Never in a million years when I started skateboarding did I ever think I woudl be asked to be part of something so huge. Humbled to say the least.   I’m off to Washington, DC this morning to be part of the donation ceremony and to also speak about skateboarding x fashion at the Smithsonian’s Innoskate event on Saturday, June 22. If you happen to be in the DC area please come by – it’s going to be an amazing day with lots of skateboarding happening!

Go Skate

Image
photos ian logan Brand spanking new Nike’s for my trip to the Smithsonian Museum and Innoskate. How rad are these babies? Perforated mesh, turquoise green high tops. I have to admit I now have them in black too. Couldn’t resist. Pure RADNESS. I can’t wait to skate the hell out of them on National Go Skateboarding Day on June 21. So remember to get out and SKATE!

Bringing It Back

Image
Images via Teen Vogue / photos: Michael Hauptman Teen Vogue is killing it with this piece on the new Vans sneakers – featuring print patterns reissued from the 70, 80’s and 90’s. Can’t even tell you how classic the checkerboard print is to me from my skate days… P.S. I love that Teen Vogue fashion editor Gloria Baume’s daughter, Anita, is a skater! I think we need to hook her up with GRO (Girl Riders Organization) so she can have some rad skate adventures in NYC and meet other cool girls who skate.   I’m really seriously stoked to see so many girl out there skating nowadays. xx

Shoe Voyeur

Image
One of my favorite things at the Vans Pool Party besides watching the guys rip it up, is to take photos of everyone’s Van’s shoes. Yes I am a voyeur, but you already knew that.

Sneaker Pimp

Image
photos via Daily Candy I’m thinking that my old Adidas hightops could use a little pimping up with these rad little Sneaker Crown accessories. Just throw them into the eyelet of your shoes and watch your sneakers be instantly transformed & updated in a small, but rad way. Because it’s not just your t-shirts that need accessorizing, right?  I think the lightening bolt pair will be mine very soon…

Agenda

Image
Sometimes “work” is the same as pleasure in my book. Sending the day at the Agenda Trade Show was one of those days. Got to see a lot of old skater friends, friends in the fashion industry and people at various brands I am lucky enough to work with. Checked out some cool new stuff in the skate and surf industry and had a killer time at the Concrete Wave Magazine BBQ. Pretty much a rad Friday. Oh yeah and I got in a little surfing. lol Hope your weekend was awesome!

Retro Style

Image
Some of my behind the scenes instagram’s  from the 70’s retro skate shoot I styled. These are those brand spanking new Vans shoes that I spent hours & hours distressing – more pics  here .  Pretty stoked with how this all came out. But seriously, what’s not to love when you get to spend the day shooting 70’s skate stuff?  #DreamJob

The Vans "Distressing" Project

Image
Some days it’s not about having a styling job where I make things “pretty” –  some days it’s about making things “pretty bitchin”. I’m working on a magazine cover shoot where the guy skater needs to look very 1970’s. So I decided that besides tracking down some old school OP shorts, Hang Ten & Lightning Bolt tee’s, puka shells, striped athletic socks, etc. etc.  I’d also take some Vans (Thanks Van’s !!) and distress the hell out of them to make the shot even more 70’s authentic.  Vans are the one thing you can never seem find in thrift/vintage stores, because seriously, who ever purges their Vans?? No one … Spent hours and hours this weekend working on these babies and I think they are just about perfect now for Monday nights shoot. They kind of take me back to my youth… Good memories.  Can’t wait to show you the magazine cover when it comes out! P.S. Thinking perhaps I should do a pair f...
