I’m sorry, but someone please just say NO.  Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent rollerskates $1,195.  No, I didn’t stutter – that’s what they cost. File this in the folder marked ridiculous.

Who Said Girl's Can't Jump?

Image
Photos: Martin Schoeller Another great article about the US Women’s Ski Jump Team. In case you missed this landmark ruling – this is the FIRST time that Women’s Ski Jumping will be included in the Winter Olympics. Sochi 2014 baby – get ready for these girls to take it by storm. But the story right now is the injury Sarah Hendrickson sustained while landing at over 70 mph – will she be back and ready for Sochi?  That is the question… Read more about the team and Sarah’s road to recovery HERE at the NY Times website.

Jennifer From Red Sole Diary on Vaunte

Image
Photos: via Vaunte So proud of my beautiful, smart, and talented friend, Jennifer Margolin who is the fashionista behind the site, RED SOLE DIARY  for being featured on VAUNTE this week! The shots of her look gorgeous, and I was completly honored to speak up and tell the Vaunte readers exactly what I think about Jennifer and her amazing sense of style. Being a  fashion stylist & a digital strategist means Jennifer splits her time between San Francisco, New York & Los Angeles. She is one busy girl,  yet somehow always looks so well put together – and she only travels with a carry on – how does she do that ?? I have no clue, but she does it well!  The girl is my idol. Oh, and did I mention that she just ran a marathon? Yeah – she is gorgeous and badass. LOVE that! Make sure you jump over to VAUNTE to read the rest of the article,  and shop Jennifer’s closet – yep, you get to shop exactly what Jen wears – but only if you beat me to it!!

"Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word" at TEDxYouth

Image
Photos: Donna Gast, Amanda Looker, Ian Logan I had the absolute pleasure of speaking at TEDxYouth Santa Monica this weekend. My talk was on my experiences in  skateboarding, and what young girls (in general) can do to empower themselves in today’s world. I will be excited to share it with all of you when it comes out on the TEDx Youtube channel soon! HUGE thanks to my lovely friend & amazing make-up artist  Donna Gast , who graciously did my hair & make-up for this event. Donna works with me on many advertising shoots and flew back from another shoot just in time to help me out and make me feel beautiful – I really appreciated it! Another RAD shout out goes to the lovely Rachel Meiss of Rachel Meis Communications and fabulous  jewelry designer Jane Basch, who made me this beautiful necklace that says “GIRL” for my TEDx talk – the title of my talk was “Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word”.  So perfect – everyone kept commenting on it! All the speakers were amazing. Danni Washington

XLV Stories of the Puma Suede

Image
Honored to be included in the limited edition book “XLV Stories of the Puma Suede” (2,000 total) produced by Puma and Acclaim Magazine. Forty five people from music, art, dance and sport have their personal stories and history wearing the suede detailed in the book, which  commemorates the Suede’s 45th anniversary. Another skater represented is Bucky Lasek – excited to read his story. As some of you may know Puma was my shoe sponsor for skateboarding back in the day and I still wear their shoes now & love them! Happy Anniversary Puma Suede!

Color Bomb

Besides being some of the raddest jewelry I own, Scosha does the coolest lookbooks.  All this color makes me happy.

Stalker Studio

Image
images via Daily Candy Some of my favorite pieces of clothing are by Thomas Wylde and I have always said if I could live in their design studio I would. Now Daily Candy is just tempting and teasing me a little too much. See what I mean?  Totally badass in every way.

LAX. The Kindess of Strangers.

Image
This morning I was at LAX ready to head off to a shoot in Texas. As the whole world knows by now, there was a terrible shooting at LAX in terminal 3 – the same place my plane was leaving from. We all know the awful things that happened today but I wanted to share some images that I took today that may show another side of things, and I want to tell you about the kindness of strangers. I had a friend monitoring a police scanner and updating me on unfolding events via text message so I knew what to do and what was happening. In the beginning, right after the shooting, most of us were stranded in parking lots and had no idea how bad it had been. Or what the “real” story was. My friend C.L was a lifesaver. I am very thankful she did all this for me. On her birthday no less. I tried calling my mom, husband, and a few close friends to let them know I was OK, but with approximately 10 helicopters hoovering overhead I’m not sure if they got all of what I was saying. My assistant & I  stood
