Hit Repeat

Something to say to yourself every morning. And believe me, it gets you fired up for your day. I’m sure people who like to wake up and do  10 mile runs,  pole dance, rob banks, etc. say that  too, but this is easier. And safer.

Screw DIY Projects

Image
So I had  12 free hours to myself so what did I do?  I started a damn DIY that I saw here and tried to duplicate the clutch I saw here . Not a good idea, as these things always seem more fun than they really are. You know those blogs that make it all seem so easy? Well, it’s not. So I will  spare you the smiles and bullshit. Here’s the REAL truth. By the time you go to Micheal’s craft store & make small talk with people who live for a DIY like it’s the holy grail, and then dodge your way around all the guys aimlessly wandering through Home Depot with their eyes glazed over (like you’d I’d be at Barneys when the Rick Owens shipment has just arrived), you are already exhausted.  And let’s not even discuss finding an American Apparel store that has these neutral clutches in stock, because every blogger in the world has been caught up in this damn DIY craze, and in turn, created mass hysteria with girls everywhere to “just try it!”.  ** The DIY bloggers are like crack dealers in my o

Fun Size

She’s not a witch doctor, but she can definitely shrink you down to about 6 inches.  Talented artist Jordan Grace creates impossibly perfect miniature, articulated, paper dolls. Insane right?  Her attention to detail is off the charts – just look at my skateboard and the color in my cheeks. This one is a pretty cool memento of my 405 fwy skateboarding adventure.  Cruise on over to Jordan’s ETSY store and hit her up for one of your own. She can create entire families plus your pets!

A Real Skater Girl

Image
A 1970’s photo of my lovely skater friend Laura Thornhill is on a tee shirt at Brandy Melville right now. How frigging rad is that? Nice to see an image of a girl really skating on a tee these days instead of poser girls.  And that it’s someone I know, love, and respect is an added bonus. I will say it again. Girls. Kick. Ass.

Street Style - The Real Kind

Image
I was driving to a lunch meeting and saw this ultra cool guy walking down the street the other day. I totally had to stop, find out his story and ask him if I could take some photos. The dude had the most bitchin’ outfit I have seen in a long time and we ended up having the best conversation. This is what I love, random encounters with interesting people.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

It’s been chilly here in LA for the past few days  – don’t laugh, 60 degrees is chilly to us warm weather people.  So it was time to break out the new leopard leggings, the moto boots  I got in Dallas (that still need to be broken in), and a huge comfy over-sized sweater. Because really, if you can’t look like you just rolled out of bed and wrapped a blanket around you is it really fashion? No, I didn’t think so. sweater Mason / tee shirt James Perse / leopard Print leggings Masison Scotch / moto boots Golden Goose / glasses Chanel / necklace LF / bag Balenciaga

Sniff This

I discovered  Santal 26 Candles and Santal 33 perfume by Le Labo and it’s like a new obsessive relationship. I am spraying this scent everywhere, almost to the point of bathing in it. Yeah, that’s how much I love it. It’s an almost masculine , leather, woodsy scent which I am totally into.  I have to say that I am pretty enamored with their store in Venice which had a photo booth in it,  and the mini store they have inside Barneys is rockin’ too. But one of the best things about Le Labo is having the perfume mixed from scratch while I wait and then having “It’s Not About Pretty” printed on the labels and box’s of each item I had made – so damn awesome!!

Pattern Magazine

Photos by Polina Osherov / Model Brittany Mason / Stylist Kelly Kruthaupt / Hair Phillip Salmon / Make-Up Kathy Lynn Moberly Remember when I was in Indianapolis on a big shoot a few months ago? Well I met the coolest girl, Kelly Kruthaupt, who was one of the stylists on our team. Kelly embraced me from the moment I arrived & introduced me to a whole world in Indy that I never would have known existed. Art gallery openings, a local magazine that looks like it’s straight out of Europe ( Pattern Mag ) , awesome food and cool people. That city is full of fashion and art! Kelly styled a couple rad editorial spreads for Pattern Magazine this month and I thought I’d share one of them with you – pretty frigging awesome right? I gotta give total props to Polina Osherov who is the editor in chief of this gorgeous magazine – she works her ass off to make this happen for the artists of Indy – which takes time, money, dedication, and artistic vision.  It takes a really special group of people t
