It's Not About Pretty

Photographer Jeff Berting Styled some real trainers for South Bay Magazines Health issue. So many rad pieces of fitness apparel out there now days it was hard to narrow the looks down to just one per person. South Bay Magazine is unique as I have to be able to pull merchandise from local stores rather than directly from PR or manufacturers like I do normally for editorial, so that presents a bit of a challenge, which I love! I think the photos Jeff Berting shot are stunning and I am so happy to have been involved in this shoot!

  Breakfast this morning while reading my friend Isaac Hinds awesome new book,  “The Women’s Precontest Bible” . Not everyone will be a fitness competitor, but everyone has an athlete inside them. I’m into the great & easy ideas on healthy, energizing meals – especially when you are on the road like I am & the awesome training tips. Love reading the girls stories too.  Great book Isaac!!!

Photos: Ian Logan / Stylist Cindy Whitehead It’s Oscar night!  And I can’t wait to watch the red carpet arrivals start in less than an hour. What’s great for me about tonight is that while I have stylist, hair & make-up friends who are running around putting the finishing touches on their actors and actress’s right until showtime, I get to relax, sit back and enjoy seeing their work. It’s a night for me to appreciate what others in my industry do so well and to not be stressed myself. A rare treat! Photo: Nicole Hill I can finally share what I was styling the awesome Tone It Up girls, Karena & Katrina for.  Their new book, TONE IT UP  “28 Days To Fit, Fierce & Fabulous”   will be released in May and I can’t wait to check it out.  We did so may great looks, from swimwear and workout, to casual to date night, it was one of those week long shoots where you really get to cover it all and it was so much fun.  I’m excited to see all the looks come together throughout the book. I feel very lucky to get to work with these amazing & inspiring  girls!

Now I’m  back on the road for a shoot in Decatur, Texas. From golfers to cowboys – this is what I love about my styling career!  

 Photographer Ian Logan Over the holidays I used my time off to continue to work on a personal project I have been doing for the past year with photographer Ian Logan .  A series of images we are calling “Walking Through the South”. This time we concentrated on Alabama and found some really great locations during this adventure. All images were shot with an iphone 5s as it was easy to carry, & we could upload to instagram from just about anywhere we were throughout the day and we didn’t have to stop to do it. I posted multiple images daily via my instagram account ( @sportsstylist ) so people could get a sense of where I was, and what I was seeing /experiencing. Using the hashtag #walkingthroughthesouth we noticed that during this time we gained quite a few social media followers daily – perhaps due to the fact that we were posting images throughout the day that were appealing to a diverse cross section of people – creatives, travel, adventure, and f...

Photos Tim Tadder / Stylist: Cindy Whitehead I had the pleasure of styling climber Tommy Caldwell in these Powerbar ads a few years back. Today Tommy and his climbing partner, Kevin Jorgeson are the first climbers in history to free climb (using only their hands – no ropes used to assist in the climb – only in case of a fall) El Capitan’s Dawn Wall in Yosemite. The Dawn wall is considered to be the most challenging climb anywhere. Congrats Tommy & Kevin!  Stoked that I get to work with inspiring athletes like this!
