Time In A Bottle
A last minute Christmas DIY. And the most amazing part was, this one was actually kinda fun and easy. I kid you not. So here’s the scoop. And you know me – this is the real scoop not some bullshit Christmas story.
I picked up some Mason jars at Michael’s (I will admit, part was a nightmare) – make sure you get Mason jars not Ball jars as the mouth of the jar is wider, so its easier to stuff your candy and toys into. Oh Shit, I am totally sounding like one of those DIY bloggers. Shoot me now.
Take the lids off and spray paint them white (or any other color you like). Then put some batting sprinkled with “snow glitter” in the bottom of the jar, then stuff the jars with candy and treats that you think that special person would like. I personally like to throw in skate stickers, tiny dinosaurs, balloons, mini ornaments, lip gloss and cool retro candies & gum. Although a few people got some “coal” in their jars too – hmmm… . You can also use parchment paper and print out a greeting to go inside the the jar, I did that and also added a yellow star for some color. Or maybe it was because I was high on sugar and needed to work off some excess energy…
Next get some baking twine (yeah, I didn’t know what it was either so don’t feel dumb) in various colors and wrap it around the outside of the jar, tie in a knot and add a holiday tag.
Before you put the lid back on the jar, crumple up some wax paper, sprinkle with that “snow glitter” and stuff it in the top of jar on top of the items – this way nothing will shift in transit. And it’s awesome to know that when people open it to dig into the candy and stuff that the glitter explodes all over the place bringing Christmas joy. Ha ha ha! Screw lid back on and there you go.
Instant happiness in a bottle.
